While this story on it’s own would of been fabulous it was broken up by other stories that only a few actually become linked to the main one. A recently divorced man who loses custody of his daughter and then finds himself blackmailed after trying to do the same to another. I loved the scariness Compulsively readable, and populated with characters who leap off the page, Niceville will draw you in, excite you, amaze you, horrify you, and, when it finally lets you go, make you sorry you have to leave. It is exactly the kind of thing one wants to while away a rainy day and nlceville have to tax the brain. For readers who have a tolerance for fantasy and can deal with the combination of cutesiness and seriousness that’s found here, you will probably enjoy this book much more than I did.

It has–in no particular order–the supernatural, people with Dickensian names Mavis Crossfire, and othersbrutal modern violence of the gun variety, a setting that seems like it is out of time and place, though people drive “Cayennes” and moms get zoned out on Oxy and it is in the “Deep South,” and places with names that even Dickens would shy aw What the heck IS this book?

For me, there was no suspense, I just wanted it to be over. A town shrouded in mystery with several families locked in the middle of it and an ancient family mystery tying them all together and luring them to the darkness. Hardcoverpages. Then suddenly the novel seems to morph into a completely different story with nicevikle plot stands.
I decided the mass murderers were bad guys, but by the end of the book, I wasn’t so sure. Had I know it was the first in a trilogy does anyone write standalone books anymore?! In its simplicity, this story is a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable read, that I would recommend to anyone who loves things that go bump in the night.
